About the Role
Position Summary
The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of The Black Candle Company while driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships, corporate sales, wholesale accounts, customer experience, and operational excellence.
This individual will serve as the second in command to the Owner and will play a vital role in scaling the business while ensuring every customer experiences the exceptional level of service and luxury The Black Candle Company is known for.
Responsibilities
Business Development
Develop new corporate partnerships and event opportunities.
Build relationships with apartment communities, hotels, event planners, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations.
Generate new wholesale and private label accounts.
Identify opportunities for collaborations and strategic partnerships.
Represent The Black Candle Company at networking events and community engagements.
Maintain relationships with existing business clients to encourage repeat business.
Operations
Oversee daily studio operations and ensure smooth business performance.
Manage inventory levels and communicate production needs.
Assist with scheduling, staffing, and event logistics.
Ensure the studio consistently reflects our luxury brand standards.
Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
Implement operational systems and improve efficiencies.
Customer Experience
Ensure every guest receives an elevated luxury experience.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
Maintain excellent customer satisfaction and online reviews.
Support public classes, private events, and corporate experiences as needed.
Leadership
Lead, coach, and motivate instructors and team members.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training new staff.
Conduct regular team meetings and performance evaluations.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and high performing workplace culture.
Hold team members accountable to company standards and expectations.
Schedule
Hybrid work environment with both remote and in studio responsibilities.
Flexible administrative work may be completed from home.
In studio presence is required for team leadership, customer experiences, meetings, inventory management, events, and operational oversight.
Some evenings and weekends are required based on scheduled classes, private events, corporate activations, and networking opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Three or more years of leadership or management experience.
Experience in hospitality, retail management, luxury brands, events, or business development preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Strong sales, leadership, and relationship building skills.
Professional appearance and polished demeanor.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, POS systems, and CRM platforms.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with event setup and breakdown.

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Marketing, Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
Minimum of three years of management or leadership experience.
Experience in retail, hospitality, luxury brands, events, or customer service is strongly preferred.
Experience in business development, sales, or partnership management is a plus.
Experience hiring, training, and managing teams.

Full time availability.
Hybrid work schedule with both remote and in studio responsibilities.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed for classes, private events, corporate activations, networking opportunities, and special events.
Reliable transportation for occasional off site events and meetings.
